However I was not able to smile at the horse one... may not have ended well I think.

Am sure the horse was fine Tony, they have big hoists to get these animals out .... thinking positive.

That actually happens to be a common occurrance.
I sold a horse and the new owners sent me a newspaper clipping of the horse stuck in a similar situation but the hole was also filled with mud!
They lifted it out with a small crane.
And in the CFA I hear of a few of these incidents each year. So far all have ended well.

Happens to Cows even more often.
