For those of us that are "Petrol Heads"

You may or may not have heard of Ken Block, he is one of the best rally car drivers in the world and what he does with these cars is mind blowing. I got this one out of cars guide, hope you like it. It takes a while to load, but I think you will find it is worth the wait......

He has to have one of the fastest, if not the fastest cranial processors around. His level of skill is astonishing. I wonder if he really, really understands the physics involved and drives accordingly, or if he has nothing more than an innate "feel" for it.

Thanks Peter - very entertaining. I've seen a few of his videos, including the episode of Top Gear where he frightens the hell out of May, but this one is incredible. How the heck do you make a car do tight pirouettes around a MOVING pivot point?

Some of those guys do know the physics behind it, but still have an innate feel for what they're doing.

Chris....with great difficulty!!!!!!

Incredible. His finess and anticipation in driving on a course with challenges on level and sloping ground is amazing. The guy on the motorized unicycle sure has faith in Blocks ability Thx for the link. Mark

I've always been one of the quicker guys at a racetrack out of my friends but I reckon that guy has more car control in his little finger than I do.

Glad I'm not paying for his tyres - or trying to breath the air he leaves behind.

And not paying for his rims either. See the sparks from the rear wheels towards the end.

Moderators....Can I Please Swear!!!!!
Fwooooaaar
I think I held my breath for the whole 7 mins!

I have been in a V8 (modded) supercar with Skaifie and Ingall on a promo thing. These guys play with their cars as if they are toy cars, like we did when we were kids making them do 360's etc in the dirt.
Absolute control and no fear. Skill and anticipation. Like Anakin in star wars... born naturals with a sixth sense...

Awesome vid Thank You for sharing!

I take it this is his Gymkarna III video with the Ford Focus? Pretty damn awesome video, that.

His other one on the dock with the Impreza is darn good, too!

He's awesome around a track, but, I hear he isn't doing too well on the WRC side of things.

I think he was driving around my neighbourhood on Saturday night at 1am...

I've seen the Impreza one at the dock too. Awesome. This one's pretty bloody good too! Freakish skills.

A friend of mine did Motor-Khana for years - though obviously not in a highly modified 4WD.

The car control he learnt was incredible. He progressed through to rally cars and ended up running a V8 Falcon in the Aussie Car Class of the Australian Rally Championship. I've sat in the "silly seat" during testing and words fail to describe their car control. They can make a car slide through a corner and then stop the slide and make if go forward in a straight line at will! Ultimately, he wound up driving for the Precision Driving Team at the Exhibition/Royal Shows - they taught him to "intentionally" drive a car on two wheels.

He is one helluva driver for sure but I think his WRC driving suffered as he is too gung ho and damages the car very quickly. Great to watch though.

If you want to watch another driver who could slide anything anywhere do a youtube search for Gigi Galli and see what he does with a Mitsi Evo. Sadly seems to have missed out on a Manufacturer drive now but again beautiful car control.

( My other 'job' was motor sports photography with emphasis on Rally. We still drive 4wd twin turbo Mitsi VR4's and work with the new Hampton Downs track. I get track time now and then. )

See him kiss the barrier at 1:30? Nicely held tho.

Tremendous skills. Conditioned response at its most spectacular.

Any more?
