ve been looking at this site over many months and I notice this just about every night. The question is: Are we being taken for a ride here?? Where are all these so called members and are the advertisers aware of this? Anyone willing to explain these figures?
Hi Mick. I would think the point is self evident here. Are we being taken for a ride regarding the true numbers of members here or not? IF we are, then dont you think we deserve an explanation or are you just happy to follow the leader in this case?
What are you actually getting at. The count is not real time logged on members...8,115 members is the number of registered members on the members list ... go to Community>Members List...count them up. Ok, they might not be all active....may log on occasionally or just once but until they request to be removed from the list they remain as members and the count remains as is.
Hi Hans. I guess im wondering if the 8115 Membership is chock full of web and search bots instead of 'real' human members. Its a faily important question I would think. Especially if your a paid up advertiser thinking your getting to 8115 readers!
I don't think paid advertisers really think they are pitching their ads to 8,115 members but accept there are only to the fraction of members on the list and casual guests that regularly visit this website.
It's dangerous ground to imply fraudulant behaviour without understanding the whole picture, which members don't really get to appreciate.
Thanks Steven but you obviously have no intention of contributing anything positive to the community.
8000+ members over 6 years, yes. That's correct. Search bots, no. They are filtered out of the numbers once they are banned.
You are owed no explanation and have no place here, making that sort of post and those sort of accusations on your first post. I'm not sure what sort of response you were expecting? Support from others? No it's not going to happen here.
IceInSpace is the biggest and most active astronomy community in the southern hemisphere, and from my point of view, the friendliest in the whole world.
