From Victoria - "Blue skies, smiling at me. Nothin' but blue skies, do I see."

Forecast for Sat night is incredible - even the jetstream is taking a holiday!

Stu, there was one more or less clear night in Sydney this week. It would have been OK if it hadn't had 100 deg of wind chill.

Blue skies over the city, but once you get to the upper yarra valley, where I live........ Clouds above

Seeing is pretty average, guidestar jumping all over the place, 2 x 20 min subs rejected as a result.... Going out to 2 sec guiding hopefully average out the movement.

Still at least it's clear.

Still jumpy, don't think any frames will be worthwhile, will give up at midnight if no improvement.

Pmrid has a new titan mount with a C14 on top. It's been overcast up here ever since it was polar aligned

My son tells me it was absolutely clear as a bell here all night, but I fell asleep when I got home from work, woke for tea, fell asleep again, then woke at about 11:30pm.

Still clear but I'm waayyy too tired to set up now.

Typical. Months of rubbish and the 1st perfect night and I'm too tired

Just packed up here. Seeing was shocking, stars looked soft even at 166x when I'd get sharp points at double that mag in good seeing. 7timer was on the money with the seeing this time. Never mind, it was good to get some clear skies! Ready to do it again 2moro

Was a good nights viewing considering what we have had recently.
Nice look at Orion, Tarantula, Neptune, youranus, and of-course Jupiter, and a few clusters in the west.
Bad luck again Ken.
Yes PGC "Ready to do it again 2moro" if I get the chance.

Glad it wasn't only me who thought the seeing was poor, but after all the cloud one had to try. I gave up just before midnight, it did look as if it improved slightly, but as all my frames were duds I gave it away.

Hopefully tonight.

Bought an Argo for the 12" and haven't even fired it up yet. Constant cloud, storms and rain ever since.

Yes I think Peter is going to have to sacrifice at least a mount AND a scope to the astronomy weather gods over this one.

You're right Stu, the weather in the Gong is a crock full. Cloudy one day, overcast the next. People just don't know how bad we have it! Oh to live in beautiful sunny Victoria, especially that paradise of perfect seeing that is Melbourne.

Look out Stu ... incoming

Don't know about Melbourne but down on the south west coast its been a perfect day, the first since I can remember. All set up for tonight, it's been so long that I had to get the manual out to set up the mount, also have instructions ready for drift aligning. Timely as I am trying to organise a portable setup to go to Snake Valley in Nov. I seem to have stuff everywhere.

Neale.
