Cheers Kev.

'Our' as in Australia? Or 'our' as in mankind? I take it you mean mankind.

$1 a year per person isn't much if you take it from those in wealthy countries who can afford it, and not from those in the Third World who can't.

And why the Sun? It's too damned hot to get anywhere near, unless you go at night.

Cheers,
Jason.

Oh bugger, you beat me to it.

And for me, I'd gladly contribute a bit of spare change for this. After all, so much of what we are forced to contribute is squandered on the unworthy or the unachievable.

Our as in Australia. Scientist claim that if all taxpayers paid $1 a year for the next 10 years it would fund australias space race.

What? A space industry on about four million bucks a year? That wouldn't even pay for the coffee at NASA !

I'm not against it as such, just incredulised.

Hmmm, maybe it could be done. A total staff count of about 10, and using balloons. Oh no, the helium would break the bank.

Hot air maybe?

Cheers,
Jason.

I would be quite happy to pay $10 a year

We should have been doing this many years ago.

I can think of a few powerful trouble makers I'd like to nominate for a mission to the Sun.

Otherwise I'd prefer to put the money towards developing orbiting or Martian human habitiats.

It'd probably be a waste of fuel

Going by the general populas interest in all things Science and Space, about 90% of folks wouldn't go for it.

So us 10% would fund it. Typical of most endeavours.

Anyone else chuckle at the "re"-entry part?
I would definitely pay more than $1 though.
