Smile Mid-week Mogo Observing session

Hey guys!

Regarding the mid-week observing session we discussed having on Wednesday night (4th Jan) at Mogo camping ground, according to SWMBO, I will not have a leave pass until 10.30pm on Wednesday, which will mean not getting there until 11.30pm.......mmmmm......not the best for me.

From an entirely selfish point of view, any chance we could reschedule for Thursday (5th Jan)? As penance (or as an act of bribery), I have a 7 year old bottle of Henschke Cab Sav which I could bring on THURSDAY.

I think Thursday might be better from a weather point of view, apparently it's going to be showers/cloudy on wednesday.

I'm fine with Thursday.

mogo creek is about 30 minutes further up the road from Kulnura, huffy.

HOughy,

To be more precise than Mike's previous post, you keep going north west along George Downs Drive rather than taking the turnoff to Paintball at Spring Street at Kulnura. After about 15 minutes past the Kulnura general store, you will come to the Wiseman's Ferry Turnoff on the left. Proceed along that turnoff for about 10 minutes. It quickly becomes a dusty dirt road, with some pretty large potholes. Keep the faith....just when you have given yourself minor motion sickness, you will see a turnoff sign to the left to the "Mogo Camping Ground". It is about 500 metres down that road.

It truly is worth the inconvenience. You do not have low horizons at the site, but the sky is even darker than Kulnura, in fact, IMHO, the sky is not noticeably different to Ilford (South Pacific Star Party).

Thursday it is then, subject to firestorms, Tsunamis and military coups!

If the moon is not setting until late, is it worth going an extra half hour to dark skies at mogo creek? The sky will be fairly bright thanks to the moon.. maybe we can use the convenience of kulnura..?

Just a thought..

Son in Hospital

Guys I just got back from the hospital (11 pm), I've spent most of the day there.
My eldest son might have appendicitis and will be opperated on tomorrow if needed. In a lot of pain.

I'm gonna have to give this week a miss.

Sorry about that.

mogo is fine with me for tomorrow night, though the weather report is not looking good.
