Post Acoustic Levitation

Have a look at this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94KzmB2bI7s

I can foresee commercial applications for this technology, once it's developed to it fuller potential. Especially in lifting a transporting very heavy objects/cargo etc.

This has been around for quite some time, now. I think more funding should be given towards research and development of this kind of technology.

Its a bit like a vertical version of that old photo of the guy sitting in the lounge chair getting blown away by his speakers. (?? Bose advert ??)

Not sure about the commercial possibilities ... maybe if it was ultrasonic it might be a bit quieter ... the power output would have to be tremendous to lift a heavy object ..

Interesting ..

Cheers

That's why more money should be put into researching the possibilities.

i remember being told a story 40 years ago about a mechanic who was testing (one of the old) a car generator on a bench and claimed that when he supplied the "juice" to it - it flew across the workshop.

i think the theory behind how it could happen was "harmonics"

when i say "juice", i mean they hooked them up with a fan belt to an electric motor that they varied in speed to measure the output of the generator being tested

Yep, Geoff....harmonics. They've been playing around with it for years, but it's been more of a curiosity than something anyone has seen potential in. Except for those doing the experiments, that is.

Geoff:

Huh ??

The generator flew across the room ??
Are you implying this was caused by electro magnetic induction between the motor and the generator ??

Cheers
PS: Or a 'back emf' ??

the theory was - as the generators speed increased some form of harmonic affect occurred which propelled the generator across the room - yes
and i might add - that the generator would have been held in some kind of vice at the time

just a story ? - the truth ? who knows

Sounds like some kind of Stargate SG-1 effect, if you ask me.

I've played around with big & small generators and I've never seen/heard of this one before.

If it is true, I'd be interested in hearing a little more detail.

(If anyone can provide it, that is).

Cheers & Rgds
