well I have returned from my trip down to Clayton and Myponga Beach. Had nice relaxing time, went sailing (have not been for 4 years), walking, looking around and most importantly imaging.
This image is from a night of 10/10 seeing. I must say that I have never seen seeing that good in 30 years of observing. The airy disk was well pronounced and the central star was a very still pin point. The unfortunate side to this was that the clouds came while I was imaging the Mars shot below. It was taken with the 5x powermate. It was so large and still (1978x magnification). Only managed to get 1000 frames before I was clouded out. Still it was great to see it so good.
Anyway here it is. A little grainy but a nice size.
Thanks Bird, yeah the seeing was out of sight. Pity about the clouds though. Still I was so excited about it that I rang Peter just to tell him how good it was. Probably will not see this kind of seeing again for some time.
Ah, I think I have got more detail than this with the LX200 Dave, but this was the first time I have ever been able to use the 5x powermate. Thanks again.
