Why is it that half the office has a sick day when they get a hint of a headache, or it's a Monday or Friday and the surf is up, but the guy who really is sick stays at work and coughs and splutters all over everyone and takes down 3 of us. And it's Friday night, I'll be sick all weekend, probably be over it by Sunday night, right for work on Monday again.

I work in retail so I'm in the same boat most of the time. Not long ago I got sick and within a week I had something else entirely. Now I'm sick again

Wait until your little one is at day care/kindy/school Troy. I think my immune system has been reintroduced to more bugs in the last few years than I'd ever care to count. Have just spent 2 weeks recovering from the last attack of the dreaded green/yellow snotties (oops - too much detail.....)

I work in the food services department of a major hospital and our policy is that if your crook don't come to work.

The risk of infecting people who already have low immune systems is just to dangerous to take that chance.

Mind you there are those as well who really play on this policy.

Same thing happens in the bush.
But i go to the chemist and get the chemists own cold and flu.
The one you got to show your license cause it has pseudo ephedrine in it.
Wow big word i had to copy and paste that one.
Anyways good dose of that and loads of water cause it dries you right out
Then i,m good as gold again.
But thats me only.

I opt for the Fluvax injection every year which I am pleased to say seems to ward off colds/Flu...well my employer does provide it free. I hate the employee that can't bother to wash their hands after using the toilet...we have one member that is a habitual offender...hello Gastro...if I had a choice I would take a cold.

My employer does the free flu shots too. Unfortunately SWMBO is a primary teacher so comes home with some new bug every couple of weeks. The parents keep taking the kids on overseas trips, so there are bugs for which there are no shots here. She is in India at the moment. I hope she does not bring back anything really exotic.

Even with the bold "wash your hands" signs in the loos, work has people who don't bother.

Yep poor teachers cop it all the time but the thing is we dont get a day off. You are expected to provide all your lesson plans and materials for someone to be able to walk in and take your class. This usually means dragging yourself into work early in the morning to set everything up for the day then crawling home again. I teach about 150 kids per day on average and there is always one or two who are sick and should be home in bed rather then spreading germs all over the place. Parents seem to think it is fine to send their kids to school sick and it's not, it just spreads like wildfire and everyone ends up crook. In many cases not even the fluvax can protect you.

I live out in the bush a bit so don't meet a lot of people except when I go to the "Little Smoke" Nambour,or the Big Smoke Brisbane
I was shopping at a Supermarket one day when this woman? was Sneezing all over the food isle, when I suggested she could at least put her hand or a hankie over her mouth and Nose, I got a mouthfull of abuse that would make a Sailor blush.
I duly asked her if she was Brought up or Dug up which brought forth more of the same.
the Manager of the store was not impressed with me and asked me to leave the store
A few days later your Truly had a bad dose of flue like symptoms which lasted about two weeks

No one seems to care these days Ron. Their manners are non existent and the language they use isn't worth repeating, in any company. I doubt they were dug up....that requires effort. More like they just oozed out of some orifice and spread their contagion around like fungal spores.

I try to avoid situations where people are noticeably ill, especially in supermarkets.

Well im one of the good staff that has only had 4 days sick leave in 6 years Im a healthy little vegemite

May off work 3 days for a dose of flu

August 3 weeks off bronchial pneumonia

I hate getting sick

I'm at work, but still not fully over this one.

It's always just after you've been sick that you really appreciate being healthy.
