The skies have finally cleared after a week of clouds. Snapped Leo, Venus Mars,Saturn and Mercury this evening. Marked up Leo to give a bit of scale to to the spectacle. Didn't realise that I didn't catch Algieba until I checked just now... oops.

1. Modded Canon 450D, 10 - 22 mm @ 22 mm, f5.6, 15 sec, ISO 100. Some levels adjusted in PS CS2.
2. Different perspective, 10 minutes earlier. Mercury is just about to enter the Pecan, while Regulus is amongst the branches (not sure if it can be seen at this scale and resolution). Same camera details as above, cropped to 80% original.

An excellent image,I love photo 1,the way you have mapped out the objects.

I also really like the fact that we can see houses,trees etc,It gives a great feel,as if the viewer is there with you and you are pointing out the objects.

Well done!,I note you used a 10-22 lens,I really like the way this lens gives wide field,I am considering purchasing this lens,you photo has give that thought more fuel!

The 10-22mm lens is awesome, a very versatile quality wide lens.

I love the planets in the evening sky although my west is only half way reasonable. Houses in the field are par for the course given the urban nature of my home. Although I try an minimise the intrusion of power lines and TV antenna.

The first image posted was taken a few doors down, but I am trying to get a reasonable shot with my pecan that featured in the second. Its a great tree in the winter after it loses its leaves.

The 10 - 22 lens is great. I borrowed Terry's last year at the QLD Astrofest and have wanted one ever since. Fantastic field of view for astro, and for crowds... Did Rigil's sports day with it. I bought it for Anne-Louise so it is her lens and I get to use it sometimes .

Looks like it is clear again tonight so I will try again. Landscape is probably the best but If I want the Pecan I have to sacrifice as I really don't like too many cables and antennae.

Keep going back to this,pic 1 is so fine,apparently-according to POTN boffins,the 10 mm end of the 10-22 lens gives 70% more view than the 17 mm end of a 17-55 etc,Not sure of the maths,but some of those POTN fellows know their stuff well.

All I know is the maths of this thread is looks like costing me $950,I have been thinking about this lens for sometime.This gorgeous photo adds weight to buying one soon.
