Corona Australis

My sister has recently purchased a star for my little girl!!!

It is in the Corona Australis constellation. We are quite new to "stargazing" and wondered where and when best to try and find this constellation. We live in Perth, Western Australia. Can anybody help us in finding it?

Baby steps.......!!!!

Sarah .... that is wonderful news!!
Corona Australis lies under the magnificent, and recognizable Scorpious - look a big hook in the sky.
have enclosed a chart - may take awhile so be patient when you go out for a look. You made need darker skies to see it clearly.
Am sure others will help out too.
The chart aplies when looking west at about .... 9pm when dark.
This chart is from www.stellarium.org - easy to use and download - put in your location, and you can change times to forward a bit further etc.

Hi Sarah and

Below is a link to a map. Have a look at the map around the left of middle, you will see the constellation Scorpius. This is an easy one - it has a large bright orange star, named Antares (it's heart) and then work your way down to the tip of his tail - the stinger which is curled. Now follow that to Corona Australia, underneath it.

Congratulations on the star & enjoy!
Suzy.
