Eclipse Double: Solar Eclipse Corona & Lunar Eclipse HDR image
I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have witnessed two eclipses in about two weeks, so I thought I would post comparison images.
The Total Solar Eclipse on 11 July from French Polynesia image is a coronal composite, similar to the one I have posted earlier but tweaked somewhat.
Image details are Televue TV-76, f6.3 480mm FL with Canon 450D (cropped), composite of 5 images with exposures from 1/500th sec at 100 ISO to 1/8th sec at 400 ISO. Processed with layer masks and radial blur filter and tweaking, all in Photoshop.
The Partial Lunar Eclipse of 26 June from home at Newport (north of Brisbane) is an HDR image.
Image details are Televue TV-76, f6.3, 480mm FL with Canon 450D (cropped), composite of 11 images with exposures from 1/1000th sec to 1 sec all at 200 ISO. Processed with PhotomatixPro3 and Photoshop.
Eclipses are simply awesome, no matter whether solar or lunar. A wonderful, dramatic demonstration of the laws of celestial dynamics. I try to capture some of their majesty and beauty. But there is NOTHING like being there and seeing and enjoying it for yourself. 14 Nov 2012 cannot come soon enough!
Great shots Terry! I saw the partial lunar eclipse too, through breaks in cloud in Melbourne the night before we flew out to Tahiti. It was special, things lining up for the main event two weeks later!
Lovely images and well processed Terry. Nothing like being there that is for sure. The eye gives such a nicer view of the corona. Looking forward to the next one myself.
