Helix - NGC7293

I really should have given up - I started the night off by running live 240V current through my mount. I haven't had a boot like that since I was a welder and inadvertantly cut through a cable, electrifying the entire roof I was working on with about a billion amps. The mount is okay - a testament to Takahashi engineering.

Then the dog knocked over the guinea pig cage. They are fun to hunt in the dark with a crying 8 year old working herself into hysterics. Of course this was made so much easier with a bunch of drunken neighbors cheering me on.

To top it off, as soon as I got a decent alignment, broken cloud came over. I was too marinated in frustration at this time to give up, so kept going anyway and of the 4 hours I took, I immediately threw out over 3 hours worth.

The rest really weren't up to scratch, but I tried to make it a little presentable with my limited processing and freeware tools. So I present the image that nearly pushed me over the edge - NGC 7293.

This hobby teaches us so much. You've developed the determination and stubbornness of a true professional.

Well done on pushing through and getting something. You had an interesting time of things but you got something for your trouble.

Nice start.

Greg.
