Tuc 47 & others

I was going to drive to a dark site tonight, but decided it wasn't really worth the effort, gotta sleep sometime.

I actually got the asterism in octans in the polar scope, this is a first for me from my light polluted western suburbs backyard.

Polar alignment wasn't perfect, but decided it would do as the moon was only about an hour off from rising.

First stop was M42, i took this 90 second exposure, it's got a lot of noise, but still o.k.

Next target was M55, i took this 145 second exposure, far from being good, i needed more time and more exposures.

Last target was TUC 47, which i haven't imaged since i got my camera, i just skipped past it for other better objects.
I wish i hadn't, this cluster is awsome, i got this 40 second exposure, and i am wrapped with it, i will be spending more time imaging this object in the future, that's for sure.

Thanks John, i still have a long way to go before i really know what i am doing.

It's still a bit hit and miss at the moment, can't seem to get regular alignment.

Here's the m42 after a bit of tweeking in rawshooter essenstials and neat image, come up a bit better.

Very nice Trevor....I like your reprocessed one a lot better....even though some will say you lost a little detail.

Excellent work Trevor, the full size images must be awesome..47Tuc is my favourite glob, at our latitude it's always high in the sky.

Nice shooting Trevor.

I like your NGC55 shot and I noticed two faint fuzzies in the 47Tuc shot. I have pointed these out on your photo below and they are both easily visible in my 12.5" dob - some nice objects lost to the splender of their neighbour!

Thanks all for the nice comments, still learning this new trade, so it's a challenge each time i set the mount up.

I am happy to get anything i can call an image on my screen, i just don't post the really bad ones anymore.
