The Antennae - Good Reception?

Well, with the size of these antennae I'm hoping they will receive a good reception! I took this data a few weeks ago but unfortunately didn't get as much colour data as I wanted, especially green (so I've synthesisid some from red/blue and combined with 2x15mins of real green).
So, an LRG(G)B image - all 15 minute subs. 2.5hrs Lum, 1hr each of red and blue and 30mins of green combined with red and blue masters synthesised as green channel. A first attempt too at multi-strength deconv layering.

That's a fine image with some good detail visible David! Lots of background galaxies too! The antennae look a little too red though and maybe ease up on the smoothing - you're starting to see some dappling of the background going on ... but I'm being picky grasshopper! Nicely done!

Cheers, Marcus

PS: and using MSDLB as well!! ... impressive!

Thanks Marcus! Yes it did look a bit red - I've changed the colour balance and uploaded a new image; should look better now. For some reason there was a strong red cast in the image. I had already turned the red back quite a bit from my usual colour balance parameters. I don't think I can do much about the dappling though - the colour data was quite noisy due to low numbers of subs so I had to do a lot of smoothing. There is also a slight colour gradient - green upper left to blue lower right; I may have a go at removing it later.

Wish my attempt at this one looked that good, nicely done David.

Hope you have luck with the gradient.

Thanks for all the kind comments Marcus, Justin, Trevor, Doug, Marc, Leon, Cesar & James!! I was hoping to have processed my M17 image data this weekend just gone, but have been struggling with plumbing fittings on a garden pump all weekend - if only there was a Photoshop add-on for that
