iOptron iEQ45 ?

An interesting new mount - does anyone know if a local importer will stock these ?

I'd also like to know more about it starting with the materials, diameter and number of teeth on the worms, periodic errors, the shaft sizes, bearings, software functions, etc etc etc... to get an idea whether it might be better than an EQ6.

Well..if they did I'd suspect that their pricing bracket (mark-up) will be quite a bit more than those in USA.

They have some more info on their IEQ75 as well. Their claim of ±.3 arc sec PE (PP) tracking error is a big claim indeed!

That double looped high resolution encoder stuff seems to be catching on. There was a hooha about the russian version (telescope drive master)on this forum a while back. Interestingly enough Sky at Night mag did a test on this system in the April 2010 issue and seemed to back up the claims of accuracy when the unit was fitted (EQ6 max PE from 13.86arcsec to 1.41arcsecs) but still said you need a auto guider as only the RA is corrected. There was also mention of 100% accurate polar alignment. Interesting concept though I imagine 0.3 arcsecs is a bold claim, where would you get that quality seeing to test it?
