Best Wearing Car Tyre.

I need new tyres, again, for the work car. The ones I have on there now are illegal after 30K Kms. I have organised a set of pirelli P7's for $225 a corner and I'm hoping I'll get more than a year out of them. I do a lot of city miles in a large V8.

Michelin used to be the bees knees for longevity when they came from France, the Jap ones, not so much.

What are the best wearing tyres these days. The tyre shops point you at cheap brands like kumho and falken when you ask for long wearing tyres. Online searches show this advise to be suspect and the cheapies I have on the back of this car (bob jane Z7's) give way easily in the wet.

I know there is no one size fits all, but there must be a mid point. I don't want to spend $1K on tyres every year.

Hi Robin we have a Holden Crewman and use Bridgestone Duravis tyres on it.

They are a good hard wearing tyre that feel safe in all conditions. They have so far done 70,000 km and still have a lot of kilometres left in them.

Cheers

On my car, very economically priced Yokohamas give me long life.

Hi Robin

Bob Jane T-marts are advertising them. I don't know the price of as they have been on the car since new and we haven't had to replace them yet.

Their full name is Bridgestone Duravis R411 and come in 15" & 16"

have a walk along your local taxi rank and see/ask what they are using

a very long while ago, the brand to buy was "Coopers" i think
the four wheel drivers might chime in here

I did a bit of research recently when I was up for new tyres. I didn't delve too far into it but Bob Jane's 'all rounder' was mentioned quite a few times so I went with them.

Cooper have an 80,000km (50,000 mile) guarantee, although I'm not sure if they have a range that will fit the average family car.

From what I have been told, the only stipulation is that you have to have a wheel alignment every 6 months, for the guarantee to stay valid.
