Modest M101

Hi to all,

I just started my first multi-session "project" . So far there was only one session, but the weather promises at least one more clear night this week. I didn't played a lot in the PS (fast and ugly processing) because more data will be added.

Here is the almost raw result so far : ISO1600; 42x50s + 1x60s +1x55s + 20 darks x50s (APT was used ). WO 110 triplet + LXD-75 + Canon 1000D, unguided. I'm very happy

M101 and friends.

Nice wide shot there, Ivo. Will be good to see more data added to the piccie. That'll really make it look good

Thank you for the comments! The plans are this night to take more data

After this project I have to get finally into auto-guiding... This will give longer exposures and will allow to lower the ISO.

Hello Ivo, a very nice image considering you've done it unguided with just 50-60s subs !! I look forward to the final image when you collect more data - will be even better if you can turn the green down a tad ...

Hi again,

Excuse me for the long silence! I was trying to make a better processing of the combined data. The second session was less productive... Worse alignment gave only 40s exposures. Also I didn't succeed to orient the camera by the same way, so had to limit the FOV to the biggest possible intersection and sadly NGC 5474 is out of it...

This is the result from around 1h and 25min total light - 50x50s + 53x40s + 9x45s + 1x55s + 1x60s; 45 darks (matching exposures); 40 bias frames. Everything is with ISO 1600 and taken with APT. This stack was made with MaximDL (didn't manage to get usable result from DSS ), and then there was some processing in PS.

Definitely I'm satisfied with this image This week is rainy here, so maybe will play a bit more with the processing

Thanks Lester! I'm still far from the level of the images I see in this forum, but hope with the time to close little bit with them
