NGC 7000 in Ha

This capture has been taken over two nights of 3-4.6.10 from London and is the best 21x900sec frames from 28 captured, discarded frames include aircraft trails and weak signal due to starting the imaging session at 10.45pm on each night:

Filter used is the Astronomik 12nm. Image is virtually the full frame from the Art 11002 camera, minimal cropping to the left side only.

Lovely image.

10:45pm and its still not fully dark? Wow. Here in mid-summer with daylight saving time its fully dark at about 9:30pm and in winter it is fully dark at about 6:15pm now. In winter you are probably fully dark at about 4:30pm or even earlier right?

Greg.

Thanks all. Yes Greg, even in the south of England it’s not very dark till around 11.15pm at this time of year. Further north and in Scotland it’s even lighter. I used to climb in Scotland and can remember coming off hills at 10.30pm in rough ground without the need for a headtorch. It’s also getting light when I shut the gear down at 03.15am.

I remember walking in Hyde Park in london at 3:30pm in winter 89 and it was snowy and pitch black. Sun gets up around 8-9am.
