Moon - Southern Limb Dec. 13, 2005

Since I wasn't all that happy with my pics of an almost full moon, I decided to see what I could get a little closer up. With my 127mm Mak I used my 32mm ep and took these afocal shots with 10x optical camera zoom. Maybe my second or third best pics this year....

It was about 15 degrees (f) outside, but I had a great time!!!! I lasted about an hour total observing and taking pics. lol

Hey champ, some nice detail in there. I guess the circular shading is an effect of the afocal approach?

Nah I think it was the port hole frame on the mother ship.

Robert T,

I think that is vinetting (sp?) you are refering to....? I do get that in different degrees with my afocal shots and certain camera zooming. I only shot afocally, so I dont know if other methods have this problem or not, but I dont think so...? Thanks dana t
