QHY8 pro first light

Finally got everything working properly (and the weather cooperated) last night so here's first light with my QHY8pro/10" Newt. I'm still waiting for the spacers for my Paracorr to arrive so ignore the coma for now!

Eta C 20x5 mins

Comments and tips welcome.

Such a great shot for the first light of your new camera. That setup of yours continues to churn out great shots.
You must be happy with the camera as it seems to be a real gem and the detail from only 100min of data is great.

Wow Peter,

I wouldn't worry about the coma too much. You know the answer so it's just time. However I think overall that is a brilliant first light. The path to much enjoyment is obvious as the learning curve develops.

You've got to be happy with that, first up.

What capture software did you use?

Darren

Thanks Allan and Darren. I'm really liking the OSC camera and wide FOV. Hope the weather continues to behave this weekend so I can get some more data to play with.

I used Nebulosity to capture Darren.

Ah, The Photon Ninja of the Night has many mysterious and cunning ways to trap the unwary, Darren.
But his punctuation lets him down

Thanks for pointing out the lack of the full stop as I didn't know when to stop reading and kept on going..... .

Peter,

Coma or no coma that's a great shot for first time out.

Excellent work!! Did you add any Darks or Flats?

Thanks Geoff. I did use flats but no darks. This camera doesn't seem to suffer too much from noise so you can use the time you'd spend on darks taking lights!

Intensely jealous, my intention is to get one for Hyperstar work. I was humming and hahhing about the extra $500 above my QHY8, but you're doing a great job of persuasion.

I really think a C11 with a QHY8 Pro would be a neat and cost-effective combination. Not that anybody else has thought of that ..... Ordered my focuser today, Marc.

BTW, the finderguider is working just great here. Go into business with those adaptors!

Cheers,

Thanks Troy and Mike. Hoping for some good weather this weekend to see what this camera can do. I've got a spacer on loan from Allan to try the paracorr and so far it looks quite promising.

Mike - it was quite a lot more for the pro however I wanted the temperature control so it had to be done.

Glad to hear the spacer is working for you.

Peter

Wow Peter, That is an excellent first light image with nice color!
Will be stunning right to the edge with the coma corrector.

Cheers Daniel.

LOL Allan you'd make a great comma corrector for Peter.

Well done Peter, lovely first light shot from your QHY8.
