Gaud Jen, smokes are a critical tool in the Astrophograhy experience, a calming, focusing tool. Get yr ass down to safeways and get some. Sheesh, whats more important, a great pic or a long boring life of inspiration-free hohum .

Go get your notes Jen, it's probably too cold now for the spiders to move quickly.
Orange juice and deep breaths will also help with the anxiety caused by giving up the ciggies.
Cheers

I gave up too Jen so don't listen to Bassnut you can do it as to the imaging the pics will be much better without all that smoke wafting infront of the scope . I smoked about 80 smokes a day for over 10 years and haven't touched a smoke for about 12 years now one tip I can give you for giving up is your brain tries to trick you into having that smoke by making you have dreams that you had started smoking again when you wake up it seems very real and you feel like a loser but if you keep your head clear you soon realise it was a dream and you have stayed strong the better you do the harder your brain tries to fool you.

Stay off the bungers Jen. Your health is far more important to you, your family and most importantly your friends on IIS . In time think of how much money you have saved and think about how many astro goodies can be invested in as a result.
To Warren - well done mate that is an awesome effort and I bet you feel so much better for it. I know I did when I lost the 50kgs of excess weight I carried for years and years but was too lazy to do anything about.

Thanks Wayne
Those patches were the secret could not have done it with out them my wallet is much better after giving up between my wife and I we were spending about $350 a fortnight for coffin nails. Needless to say we now own a reliable car have no debts and our lungs are much healthier. I did put on weight after giving up I know I turned orange as I replaced the hand to mouth of smoking with eating carrots improved my vision a lot . But I lost 60KG in 6 months so I know how you felt after losing the weight I have since had more problems with being unable to ride a normal push bike but I am building a sit bike so I can get back to my 60KLM per day bike ride to get the weight under control.

Jen,
1. Get some patches - they work a treat!! Don't go the nicotine chewie - I hurt my jaw trying to get the last bit of nicotine out of the buggers!
2. Go down the shed and get your notes. Take a thong with you and if a spider should appear - WHAM!!!
3. Enjoy a peaceful night under the stars. You'll be amazed at how quickly the time passes....
4. Keep up the good work keeping off the ciggies!
Cheers,
Mario

I guess it comes down to how soon YOU want to be up there amongst the stars or be down here taking beautiful images and using them as travel brochures to show friends who continue to smoke.

Don't give up Jen, quitting is hard but one of the best things you can do for yourself. The way I see it your health is the second most important thing in life besides your family, so keep at it! Well done on taking the first step.

Hi Jen,
Do I detect Emoticadiction?
Seriously though, when you feel that burning desire or weakening for that aromatic smoke of a CANCER STICK. When the desire to resist is slowly extinguishing and you want to light up............ : sadeyes:
................ Cast your thoughts to the wise words of
Warren, Wayne, PeterM, Wade, Ron, Mario, Ric, Martin, Fred, NO Forget Fred and Humayun.
They are all there for support in your assumed lonely battle against tobacco blight.
Anyway I have said it before, "Giving up smoking is easy, done it lots of times"
Cheers From Another of Your Supporting Buddies, Marty
PS Missed Mark (Nesti) My apologies to him.
