last night's Mars - and getting to know dew

Hi All, another attempt at Mars last night. Can't complain about the cloudless skies and seeing wasn't awful, but couldn't be said to be good either. Usual settings running 10 fps for 150 sec at 1/30th s exposure, little gain, high brightness and gamma and saturation around 50%. This the best 800 or so frames processed in Astra Image 2 using LR deconvolution and 1.7curve radius.

I'm also starting to experience for the first time last night ( and worse with saturn this morning - will post later when processed) the JOYS OF DEW with a SCT. My dew-shield seems to do bugger-all. Actually though I'm surprised at how good the views can be when the corrector is all misted up.

Is it normal for the initial dewing of the corrector to look like someone has sneezed on it or is that just mine ?

Anyway, I'm off now to Sirius Optics, hopefully to bag myself a dew-zapper

Another fine shot of mars. The 9.25 definitely has great optics.

Nice image Robert, would you like me to have a go at colour correction?

In regard to dew, you might also consider a hair dryer. This works well for me, but dew heating is next on the list. Might see if I can get a credit from kendrick for the SCT laser collimator that does not work.

by all means Paul , can you go with the jpeg or do you need the stacked bmp out of registax - do you correct in Astra Image or Photoshop?

all I'm doing at present is using the "estimate" colour alignment button in Registax which gets alignment close but not perfect.

cheers,

Robert send me the BMP, I will do the work in Astra image and send it back to. You can post it later if you like it.

The RGB alignment will not correct the colour like I was suggesting. Using the auto RGB align is good though. Keep it up. The colour correction I was thinking of was to get a more natural colour of the target. Still; send it to me and we shall see.

Very nice Mars Rob. I tried on Friday night and wasn't too successful. You've done a good job there.

Cheers
