Magnetic Activity and Filament, 25 April 2010

Hi

I was able to get in some imaging today after a two week break - yeah!

The first is a region of significant magnetic activity (not a numbered region due to the lack of visible sunspots) and the second is a filament that a few days ago was a nice prominence on the SE limb - I think the one Dave imaged recently.

Lunt 60, DMK31 and Registax5 - inverted too.

Thanks for looking.

Nice pics, Matt - I just came in from admiring these two features!

Because of its curvature and proximity to the limb, that filament has a lovely 3D quality to it. Meanwhile the unnumbered active area is still enormous, with lots of tiny detail around what looks like a great rent in the solar surface: you've captured it well. The increasingly bright part at one end may even be developing into a focus of the activity.

Good captures, particularly like the filament. Heavy cloud here.

That really interesting Matt,

To see the morphology of the features change over 24 hrs is excellent

Thanks for that.
