Saturn again

I've been processing AVIs most of the day & managed to pull this one out of the hat.

I took enough video to fill the laptop & I still have at least another 2 gig to have a look at.

The seeing was 4/10 until about 3.30-4am & suddenly went to 9/10 which is when I started capturing Saturn. By 4.45 I would have given it a 10/10 but I'd already filled the lappy by then.

My apologies for the non-natural colour but it's the best I can do with the refractor. I did muck with the colours on this though to get rid of the green rings. I'm impressed with the detail I got. (I went slightly over-board on the waveletts in registax) Oh well.

I feel another great night coming on tonight, so I better get back to stacking.....Unfortunately I have to delete most of what I got last night to make room!

That lovely, nice and smooth and crisp.

Are you having moisture prob's too? I'm finding I'm having to rgb nudge to get
the colours aligned. Or the blue channel seems to be out of whack with red
and greed. Aaaaargh the pits of a one shot colour camera...

I'm waiting up for Saturn too, she's cleared the horizon just got to clear the
trees lol plus a few more degrees of altitude as well.

Good Luck!

regards,CS

Hi Asimov....

Yer an inspiration dude! Luv yer work... it was rather nice in Adel. @ 3.30am last night. I'm thinking that really early mornings is definitely going to be better for pix than late evenings. Shots like yours would make it worth the effort I reckon

Cummins!

Kewl, that would be a great dark sky site fer sure. I was in Cummins one time years ago when I worked in BankSA (but it was Savings Bank of SA back then). Did a teller relief for a month. Nice place as I remember.

This one is the original straight out of registax with no processing except cropping & resizing. This is the 'true' colour an achro refractor does for saturn, which is why I usually fiddle with the colours before posting.

I'm going to have a good old 'tweaking session' this morning on the toucam to see if I can get more natural colours.

The crepe ring is there also, but after uploading to the site, it's gone. Thanks Ken!

John, if you focus a bit crisper you will be able to capture the strings that hold the rings up in space

Sorry, I'm in one of those silly moods tonight. I need to go to bed and get some sleep!
