Jupiter April 21st 2010

Hi All,

Imaged Jupiter this morning from 5:20 AM CST through to 6 AM CST.

Captured 6 sets of RGB data, the closer it got to Sunrise the steadier the image.

Have posted my final image of the session, Jup was at an alt of 27 degrees and the sky was so bright that I no longer needed my LED headlamp to rotate my filter wheel.

This image was captured about 50 min's later the Birds most excellent image from this morning, I am about 1000 km further west.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Thanks very much Bird I appreciate your comment, When I finished processing this I thought it looked quite good, that was until I saw your most stunning effort from this morning.

Nice work Trevor. I'll wait for it to get higher before I even think about bothering though.

Thanks John, it is very low at the moment. I have been using a 7 day 24 hr programmable timer to run my Peltier cooling system from 3:30am CST to 4:30am CST. I hit the deck at 4:30am CST and by the time I have my cameras connected I can just bring my scope to bear on Jupiter with my tube not that far from horizontal. I am capturing data by about 5:30am CST but it seems to get much steadier as Jup climbs to approx 30 degrees alt but that is so close to Sunrise that the sky is becoming very bright.
