Mars Mewlon 180 vs C9.25

Hi all, here's an image of mars taken through the Mewlon 180 a few minutes after that one posted yesterday with the C9.25 (shown again below at right). Overprocessed a bit. Not really a fair comparison as I was using electronic focus on the 9.25 and haven't collimated the Mewlon yet. Visually I didn't think there was much in it. Anyway here it is FWIW.

cheers,

hmm that doesn't look quite right..

The mewlon version looks waay too smooth, like too many frames stacked, bad seeing, and/or bad focus and/or bad collimation.

Look forward to some more comparisons in future.. i think it's great to see comparison images side by side with different scopes, cameras etc, but it's very hard doing in exactly the same conditions for a fair test.

The shot on the right still looks good

I'd guess that the mewlon version has had a bit too much ME deconvolution - that can cause the smooth disk, sharp edge effect.
