Macquarie Uni Open Night

ASNSW were still looking for volunteers to bring gear to the Parra event a couple of weeks ago.

There is also Macquarie Uni's open night the same day. Quote:

------------------------
This year the Macquarie University Astronomy Open Night will be
enriched with new activities for kids of all ages, families, friends,
astronomy lovers and absolute beginners. This email is to give you
advance notice of our Open Night, coming up on 24th April 2010,
commencing at 6.30pm. Printed notices will be mailed in due course, as
in the past.

Activities will include:

* Telescopes for viewing stars and planets (weather permitting)

* Our inflatable planetarium for guided tours of the night sky

* Hot food and hot & cold drinks at the ever-popular barbecue

* An ice cream cart for dessert

* Activities for children of all ages with competitions and prizes

* Stall exhibitors including astronomy clubs and vendors and

* An illustrated talk by Fred Watson, leading science communicator
and Astronomer in Charge at the Anglo-Australian Observatory. The
talk, titled "Pluto and the Uebernerds", will begin at 7.45pm in the
E7B courtyard.

(Please note that places may be limited for some activities.)

Our website is at: http://www.astronomy.mq.edu.au/public/FFA/opennight/

This year, for the first time, we have stepped up the advertising and,
with the increased the range of activities, we are hoping to attract
in excess of 500 people, hopefully many more.

Its a shame I have committed my time to another event this same night otherwise I would be going to this.

These are great nights and well worth attending to show he public some of the night sky.

There are usually many different vendors stalls and excellent guest speakers.
