Jupiter, April 8

Here is my first Jupiter observation and image for 2010, Jupiter was only just high enough to clear the lower wall of my windbreak and only a low resolution image was possible.

The south equatorial belt is very faint, pretty much nonexistant. I think Oval BA can be seen at lower right as a distinct orange spot, but I may be wrong as I haven't checked the longitudes.

regards, Bird

Well done Bird,

As you say, the SEB is pretty well gone, it will be most interesting to see how long it takes to start to regenerate. I know it has been a while since we have seen Jup but the NEB sure looks darker, might just be the faded SEB making it look so dark.

Regards
Trevor

The ever changing face of Jupiter. I wonder how long ago we would have to go to see only one EQ belt; I have never seen it like this in 40 years.

All the best Anthony.
