Herschels Ray

I did this in narrowband about a month ago and last time I was at my dark site it was during the new moon still.

So I took some LRGB for it as well.

This one is O111LRGB 100 80 80 80 80 (7 hours). Taken under good seeing.

TEC180FL, FLI PL16803, Baader Filters, Astrodon 5nm O111.

Lovely pencil Greg! The OIII is very strong throughout the image. Some Ha data would make it even more special

Very easy on the eye Greg. Not familiar with this one - more education coming my way courtesy of IIS members I see....

Well just for you Gary I added some Ha. It took a bit of Photoshopping as it adds some noise but it also adds some interesting hues and a bit more warmth to the image.

PeterM.
It was a slightly larger field but I got a bad reflection from a nearby bright star that was too hard to Photoshop out. It is a delicate area with lovely hues and tones.

Thanks Paul. I hadn't noticed that red area behind the Pencil Neb. Haven't seen that before.

Thanks mate. I prefer the Ha version as well, it adds more subtle reddish hues.

Greg.
