Eta carina

Hi Guys

"When it was first cataloged in 1677 by Edmond Halley, was a star of magnitude 4, but in 1843, after an eruption that ejected a cloud of dust 500 times greater than the solar system became brighter, reaching its luster Sirius, despite its enormous distance. After that (between 1900 and 1940), the magnitude was only 8. In 2002, had a magnitude of 5, and suddenly and surprisingly doubled its brightness between 1998 and 1999"

Very Nice widefield image there.
You should post in the Deep Space photography section of the forum.
Cheers

It could have turned supernova already - the explosion still crossing the 8000 odd light years it takes to get to us. Amazing.

Hi Doug

You're right. I posted the picture in the wrong place. I put the other images on the right section . I'm glad you liked!

Hi Vanda,

It is expected that Eta Carinae could explode as a supernova or hypernova over time in the next million years.

Bye
