ASV Messier Star Party - The Movie

not exactly a deep sky image for this forum, but here's something that did work as planned from my few nights of photography at the ASV Messier Star Party over the weekend:

apologies if it's not your taste in music :-)

Excellent work Phil, I love it when you do this type of stuff!

How many exposures?
What ISO/length of exposure?

Nice work!

How awesome was that!!

Great music considering the pace of the time-lapse..

How good was the sky! Crystal clear all day, and apparently all night too! Looking forward to some of the autumn/winter targets I saw rising in the movie!

Well done Phil...

Thankyou Phil,
That's sensational! I was there and had a fantastic time.
Saw your camera clicking away all afternoon.
Great stuff.
Thanks again.

all up i took about 6500 images (a lot of shutter cycles!) but have cut out the first 2000 images when there was less happening in the afternoon.

all taken with a Canon 5DmkII and 24mm f1.4 lens wide open. Night shots are 8 seconds at ISO3200. I need to get better at managing the camera settings during the twilight transition as the star motion changes speed a bit at the moment but that would involve paying more attention to the camera whereas i was distracted with everything else happening away from the camera..

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although a few areas to improve for the perfectionist in me. This partially makes up for screwing up ten out of fifteen hours of exposure over the three nights that got shot through red filter on my QHY9 on a faint target without me realising it cause the comms cable lost contact with filter wheel! worked fine the first night and then i wasn't checking very closely after that as there was so much activity with so many people around.. was still a great weekend but i hope not to repeat that mistake!
