third party 'goto's for Eq5 clone/GP mounts,any ideas?

Hi All

I got a email from Astro Optics in Sydney the other day. They are having a 25% off sale on all vixen gear.

I see a GP-D2 (same as 'older' GPDX,but just painted white),for $1149

was thinking about getting one,as the machining on the componets is of an extremerly high standard, and it has a payload of around 10 kg.

Problem is i will then need to buy a goto system and motors,What options are there?

The vixen star books are not the best,There is the Ioptron 'Eclipse goto star" its about $800.Some German thing called boxtopher,i think this might be very expensive,I also heard mention of a Celestron kit,but not sure.

Anyone using the above, let me know how it works for you.

Thank you

I have a Vixen GP/SP mount fitted with motors from MicroGiga.
It's not a self contained GOTO but can be used with software like Starry Nights to make it function as one.

I'm not sure if they have a model to suit the latest Vixen mounts or even if they still develop these sort of products. I bought mine a few years ago.
