vdB 96

Visually near impossible to observe and very difficult to locate with short CCD exposures this was meant to be a 10 hr blue filter luminance exposure. Unfortunately due the a programming glitch the first 5 hours of exposure was overwritten the following night.

Still it has come out reasonablty OK.

5 hrs L=B, 1 hr R, 1 hr G, 1 hr B ST-X10ME, BRC-250.

Lovely,
I don't think I've ever seen this one before, it has to be a rarely imaged target.
Came out great.

That's a super image and beautifully captured. Can't imagine what it would have been like with the extra 5 hours of data.

Thanks for the comments.

Although vdB stands for van den Bergh, vdB might as well be "very dim body" for this and other objects in the catalogue.

Regards

Steven
