Last night was a perfect seeing night for the Auroras so I grabbed the Binocs, chair and torch and headed to the highest point on my property which is way up the back paddock (which is where I will be building my observatory).
11:20p.m.
Walked up the back paddock and scared the crappers out of the sheep.
11:30p.m.
Moon a bit bright. Washing out lots of stars. Got comfy in chair and watched the South.
12:30a.m.
No Auroras as yet. Checked out the sky with Binocs. Just made out the Jewel Box. Saturn useless, but just made out 2 of Jupiters moons. Eta Carina is magnificent with Binocs.
Back to Aurora watching.
1:00a.m.
Got up to stretch my legs. Walked about 30 feet and found the dead sheep I had been looking for! Or what was left of it (bloody foxes).
1:05a.m.
Moon Set! Hooray! Aurora watching. Still nothing yet. Milky Way looks beautiful as usual with no Moon.
1:15a.m. approx. Horses came over for a talk. Had to tell them to go away as they kept farting.
2:00a.m.
Getting fed up with the constant sight of LMC, SMC and Coal Sack in periferal vision ALL the time. Lovely as they are, one can only look at them for so long.

Binocced around the sky a bit. Back to Aurora watch!!!
2:30a.m.
Binocs and me getting wet?? Shone the torch down the slope and the house and Dam were gone. Bloody mist was up around my knees. Keep looking.
2:45a.m.
Fog rolled in and obscured everything except Zenith!!!! Bugger it!
2:46a.m.
Left chair behind so I could find dead sheep again and bury it.
3:00a.m.
Went to bed. . . . . and NO AURORAS!!!
Maybe tonight.
