How can I think of something intelligable when your all pushing me!!!!

Let me see . . . ummm . . .

I know, it's something I just worked out in PM conversation with Slick: If you cut 1 inch off the end of a scope it will move the centre of gravity by more than 1 inch!

How's that.

Dependent on how much mass was in that 1 inch... Reflector or Refractor?

Cheers,

Graeme

Ummm, a Dob!

We were discussing the length of a specific Reflector OTA compared to a pre-built Dob mount from a different source.

Here's your chance for 4000!!!

Which end? If you removed the inch from the primary mirror end, inclusive of the mirror, the balance point would move by more than an inch....

Cheers

Graeme

Yes definately the Mirror end! To fit a reflector OTA that is 80mm too long to fit into a dob box allowing for only a certain length you would only have to cut off approx 70% of the excessive length which would in turn move the centre of Gravity further down the tube allowing the OTA to fit. Does that make sense?

HOORAY 4000!

It's your fault Graeme, you made me post!!
