Right at this moment we have our first bushfire for the season. The fire trucks are pouring past my house towards the Camp. I can just see the smoke. Fortunately the wind is blowing away from here this time but UNFORTUNATELY it is heading towards Linton AGAIN!! and we have very strong winds.
Those that came to camp know how bushy it is around here.
If they sound the town siren I will dissappear from here and go and help. Gee I hate bushfires, scarey stuff!!
Never is good. The CFA prefers the public to stay out of the way unless it gets 'too out of control', then they sound the siren for re-inforcements from the local blokes.
Most of the farmers around here have pumps and water tanks on their utes, but I'll even cut sandwiches If it helps. No, I don't do anything silly around bushfires. Too dangerous.
Now I am starting to panic a little. The fire is to the South and the wind is blowing to the South but the smell of smoke is strong! So I just checked outside and there is another fire to the North!!! I'm going to log off now and be on stand-by in case I have to pack fast.

Good news, it is all under control and the cool change has come through.
Thanks for that link Craig, it will come in handy for future safety.
There was also a smaller scrub fire next to the primary School across the road (that's the one I could smell) and the kids were all herded together in a safe spot but it was quickly put out.
The main one near Linton is still burning but (apparently) under control and nearly out.
I will relax when it starts raining (predicted).
According to the CFA link above there are 3 fires within a few Kms of here (Region 15), not counting the one over at the school.
