Perry Sands and Lake Mungo

Just a couple of landscapes to share , The moon in Perry Sands shot was
taken separately and thrown in for a bit more effect

Beautiful

Hi Mark,

Really fabulous shots!!!

I'd actually think the first shot would be better without the addition of the Moon.
It stands up on its own without it.

Beautiful pictures Mark ... everything perfect ... they both have their own story ... really like that solitary defiance depicted by the flower in picture one ... just my opinion, but I think this image would have been better without the moon .. or if it has to be there, being much smaller in size.
In any case its still a fabulous image.
I will wait for you to answer Mike to see where abouts this place is.

Perry sands hills are just outside of Wentworth NSW on the junction of the murray darling rivers.

Mungo national park is about 90 Klms north east of Wentworth.

Cheers Kev.

Fantastic shots. I agree with Gary, ditch the moon from the first shot

Thanks for all the comments guys.
The print i did on the Sands was without the moon originally
I just posted the copy with it. I have another with a different sky
thats a bit more dramatic.
Yes they were taken on a trip to Mildura - really great little place
if you havent been there.
Here is original without moon - thxs for the opinions

I love the lighting in the Mungo shot! Will have to put that on my list of places to visit. And I think the plain blue sky works best for the sand shot.

Nice work.

Cheers,
Stephen

Lovely shots and yes, I agree... better without the moon!

A couple of thoughts why the moon doesn't work in that shot:

  1. The lighting is wrong... sand is lit from the right but the moon is lit from the above left.
  2. The moon is too close to the edge and spoils the balance of the shot. I think if the moon had really been there you might've framed the shot with more sky to balance it with the moon in frame.
It's not as easy as it might seem to do a good job of merging different images. Direction of lighting is the first hurdle.

Al.

I love the one with the clouds, beautiful.

I'm going to have to go there one day, I want to photography some more sand dunes. I hope to have them turn out as good as yours!
