First Horsie for me

First of a lot of things for me. First off, let me say Hi to everyone as it's been a while since I've posted anything.

It seems ages since I've actually managed to set up, Bad weather, work and family commitments and just too tired a lot of the time. So naturally the skills have dropped.

But a few firsts for me, first time I've joined images from different nights, Framing was a little off, but there you go. Trying to run through as much of the processing tips I've been given and played with layers and etc.

Typically I went back to the start and deleted my various attempts.

I'm not sure how this is going to look to anybody else, but it's the first one I've done that even resembles what I've seen others do.

SW ED120 and Eos 1000D
Guided with QHY5 and ED80
8 x 10 mins, iso 800, darks, flats and bias frames.
Captured with Images plus camera control.
Stacked with images plus and final process
using PS3. Slight crop due to poor framing over two different nights.

Comments welcomed!

Darren

The colours are nice. A tad soft for my liking but very good effort there.

I agree with you Dr Paul.

Probably is a tad soft, but had poor SNR and the harder I pushed in PS3 the grainier the image got.

Still got data to play with and a night out under the stars, dodging clouds!

Been wondering what you've been up to. Good to see you are still imaging.
Nice image Darren. A bit more exposure will make all the difference. Did you use a LP filter for this image, it just seems a little washed like a reddish tint across the entire image, wich seems normal for a LP filter.
Are you coming to SV in March?

Hey Doug,

Yes, the LPS filter has been permanently attached to the front of the DSLR since acquiring it.

I too have noticed that my images haven't been quite as sharp as of late, not that I've much time to do anything.

Mate, I'm champing at the bit to get back to SV, bought a car for she whom must be obeyed just so I can get up there early on Friday and set up.

I then want to chew the ears off you and John about the GM8 and the possibility of a permanent set up here. I also want to have a good look at Gemini and get some idea's on how to justify that sort of expense!

Well talk soon.

Darren
