Mars - My best image

Last night I processed another avi which I had taken back on the 11th Nov.
Turns out to be my best capture (I think).
The three are the same image with slighty different processing applied.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy.

Cheers

yes you are correct, your best.

have you tried less frames per second??

30 fps smooths the movie, but compresses the data so you lose detail.

I have to work at 5fps because I am using the raw mod. I would recommend this website http://www.astrosurf.com/astrobond/ebrawe.htm

but I know Iceman works at 10 or 15fps in average seeing and then moves to 5fps is good seeing??

Raw mode has worked well for me, but Ice did not like the colours that were formed.

Mars ha turned out better for me, but I am keen to try saturn with and without the raw mod to see which gives the best colour

Thanks Davo,

Yes I was capturing at 5 and 10 fps but found it wasn't coming out right on the night. So tried at 30fps Maybe I should have stuck with the lower framerates.

And yes can't wait for Saturn and also the big guy, I miss Jupiter.
Have to work on my processing skills to be ready.

Lets not mention this to the boss, he may get a little testy and make you change your name to Anthony so that he never made a mistake!

OR,

you have now joined the anthony "secret society mars" club. Bird, anthony12345, Rumples "The ANTagoniser" Riot, Mike "Its my site, so I am in all clubs" Salway.

Congrats mate!!!

When i get a whole lot better, i may be asked to join!! I will be on the lookout for that secret handshake at star parties!!!!

Sorry, meant Andrew

Definitely go no higher than 10fps Andrew, at 30fps you're getting lots of compression and losing fine detail in the data. It may have looked worse at 10fps but there is more detail, and maybe you just had a bad patch of seeing at 10fps.

I haven't tried the raw/optimised colour mode for about 6 months, it's probably worth trying again to see if I can extract more out of it now that i've improved in my processing. At the time, I found I simply had to process the raw mode image harder to get a similar look.
