Thought I'd throw my helmet into the ring. Taken on the 8th of January when it was very hot. This I think gave rise to the busy background. Also much more data needed.

ED100 on LXD75 guided with DSIpro/F6 achro/PHD
5 min x 27 subs for a total of 3hr 15 min with Orion Starshoot DSI
Stacked in DSS, curves, levels, colour balance and greyscale blended as luminance layer. Cropped to remove stacking edges and meridian flip edges.

Quite a bit smaller than Pauls but still some very nice detail in the nebula. More data will smooth it out a bit.

Nice.. Like Duncan said its hard to get in teh first instance, but you ahve captured it nicely! The star field is great.

Your field of view shows the extensions (below) quite well. That must be one massive extended object.

It was one of those times where you had to rely on the goto. Even in the subs it was very faint. Now for some clear skies without the easterly blowing in cloud every night.

Thanks Trevor, it is quite colourful and I intend to add to add some narrowband subs to define the dimmer areas. This would be a great target for your 8" RC as Paul Haese amply demonstrated.

Thanks Doug, I have every intention of adding to it and then I'll see how it holds up with a further crop. The difficulty in making it bigger like Paul's beautiful rendition is currently financial: bigger scope, bigger mount and better camera (then comes the really hard part of learning how to use it) but it is something to aspire to isn't it.

Thank you Dr Paul, the mount surprised me by tracking really well all night, not the usual wrestle (probably just put the mockers on it for the next month or so)

Yes, there is more nebulosity there and I'll resort to narrowband to try to improve it. Even more colour subs wouldn't hurt.

Here's 25 min of 5min Ha subs from last night before being clouded out (just stacked and stretched) it has hints of more above and below. I'll see what I can get with more Ha (longer subs and more of them) and OIII. Hopefully this will resolve the faint stuff.
