I've had enough of my PC, so I bought a new one!

I have been having trouble with my imaging PC for few weeks now, which also stopped me from getting a little scope I wanted. I had sent it in as it just shuts down all the time, when it is warm and when you want it to do something. It had all the power supply tested and all the cards reseated, the CPU heatsink and fan cleaned and new paste, operating system health and some more fans fitted to keep it cool. Then it started making wierd buzzing noises and acting funny. Lasted about a week and a half or something. I was trying to stack some images from last night and every time I'd come back to check, it was off again.
Four times I tried.
That's when I rang my wife and said I was gonna raid the cash tin and get a new PC. Found a Dual core 3Ghz, 2G RAM, DVD, 500G HDD, onboard HD sound, and the usual stuff in a fancy case with a carbon fibre look. Cost me $599. Slipped my 1Tb HDD and 1G video card in it and I'm away again. It can be so frustrating.

Whew, glad to get that off my chest, rant over!!

You should look up that new motherboard on line and see what is the newest/fastest cpu it can take. Those old dual core 3 gig chips run at a really low bus speed which means they are always waiting for info and never used to their full potential.

Thanks, I'll poke around. Closed the case back up, so I'll pull the side off and see what board it is. I know it's a Gigabyte.
