Ahhh the Paki's are just on a roll. The ball is swinging too.
The only way to break their roll, is to step up to them, make their bowlers change their line and length.

Have a look at how green the wicket is!!!!
There's also been a lot of moisture in the air around Sydney, giving the swing bowlers a helping hand.
I was a bit amazed Ponting opted to bat first after winning the toss...even though it's (generally speaking) the done thing.
Should make for an intersting Test...

Hi Cricket Fans,
This is a fault directly resulting from the selectors. Having a batsman as captain? Not a bad move but there is better. A bowling batsman, not strictly an allrounder, like Waugh or Border. They knew their stuff.
Ponting is pure batsman. He will take batting first up every time. A bowler knows when to field first and is more inclined to recognise the time to field first.
I don't know weather Ponting looks to the team for decision input. Border did. Waugh was a natural, full of confidence. Much like Ian Chappell.
Cheers Marty

You probably have a fair point there, Marty.
However, there have been plenty of good Aussie captains who've been outright batsmen.
For starters, a certain D.G Bradman comes quickly to mind.
In more recent times, I guess you could mention Mark Taylor.
There've been others.
Having said that, I can recall plenty of poor decisions Ricky's made in recent years - some of them quite amazingly obvious. Some of his decisions of when and when not to bring on certain bowlers at critical moments in matches have certainly raised eyebrows.
Whether that's the result of him being 'pure batsman' or not.....

It certainly was an interesting days play. It's a pity that I have to work tomorrow, I reckon there is going to be a lot of twists and turn in this test match.

We certainly have a game on our hands this time.
A few more wickets would not go astray.

Ponting decided to bat first as he did not want to bat last on an often turning pitch -soft- he got it so wrong - how could you possibly win the toss and bat on that green top with rain!!!!!?????
It is a decision that will level the series!

It will be interesting to see how the pitch plays tomorrow. It seems to be drying well now.
A good opportunity for the aussies to post some runs, I'm optimistic that the game is not over yet.
Cheers

Maybe he wanted to make it exciting instead of a whitewash...
