"That splendour has gone now. We look up in amazement only on New Year's Eve, when the fireworks and their fake chemical stars go on show so briefly. While the real stars are still there"
Well the second paragraph made this worthy of a late (and repeated?) posting for tonight especially. It points out that most people only now look up at the night sky in cities come New Years Eve when the sky is lit up with even more artificial lighting in the form of fireworks (though I do admit they are spectacular). If only they could use an occasion such as New Years Eve to address such issues as Light Pollution as it is a time when most non Amature Astronomers actually 'look up at the sky'.
I honestly think even in my area the Light Pollution has become more prominant then 6 months ago
Anyhow, just though I would post this great article
