Thumbs up My first Ha color blend - Horsehead region

Hi folks,
Well this one has been a little while in the making with all that smoke around and cloud. Managed 3 good nights in the last month. Some nights the smoke was so thick you could see too about mag 2!
Having bought a Astronimik Ha filter last month I was rather keen to get a few hours which I managed a few nights back.
Total of just under 4hrs for color and 2 hours Ha. Looking at the Ha data I would at least need double that as it is still a bit noisy.. DSLR`s for ya!
Blended the Ha with the red channel at around 40%. Had some fun getting the color balance but in the end got a fairly decent result.
Oh imaged with the TV genesis and modded 20D. Still some blueish halos around the brighter stars but that`s what you get with the genesis! Not quiet a APO.
Happy with the result all the same. I shall go over this next full moon!

Image 60% full size..800kbs size

Thanks for looking.

Nice one Gary. You've kept the blues & reds very deep in the blend. Real nice details too in the head and neb to the right.

Another great shot Gary. That DSLR doesn't seem like any slouch to me. I'd love to have a go at some Ha - looks like your first effort has come through very nicely.

Very nice Gary... Colour seems to be fairly natural which is always the biggest hurdle when combining Ha and RGB data... You've got yourself good extension in IC434, and even the streamers are starting to show up nicely too.. Well done.

Gary,

I think it is a fabulous image. Colours are great, focus is tight and the blend is spot on.

Impressive work Gary. I think what I noticed first was how well the original star colours and sizes have been maintained. Not an easy task. Your persistence has paid off. Well done.

Gary,

Agree with Jase.

Although, on my monitor I'm noticing some blue around the flame region. What's that all about? Or, is that really there?

Regards,
Humayun

Thanks Marc, Jeff, Trevor, Rob, Paul, Alex, Frank, Jase and Humayun! for the comments!
Doing a closeup of the HH with the 8" now but have to wait for the clouds to clear again! Really can`t complain as we have had 40mm of much needed rain!
Humayun, Yes that is really there! All my other deepish shots show blueish bits around the flame as well.
Thanks everyone for looking
