Moon - 09-11-2005

Here are two other images I took on the 9th November.

The first is the crater Cassini and the Alpine Valley. Cassini is the crater roughly in the center of the image. It has a sunken rim and two large craters inside. The Alpine Valley is on the right at the bottom of the frame - looks like a tear through the mountains. I really like the jagged shadows of the Alps on the right side of the image.

The second image is of the large craters Ptolemaeus, Arzachel, and Alphonsus on the terminator.

Wow - the light and shade around the terminator sure gives a nice 3D effect. On the second one that has Ptolemaeus, I fancy I can see a couple of grooves (rilles?) across image running roughly upper right to lower left...
