Bird has some competition - well almost & sort of!
Got to go in the Stone Bros Racing pits (Marcus Ambrose "Tassie Legend) & and also Greg Murphys (NZ legend).
There is almost 2km of wiring in a $500,000 650hp v8 supercar. Bird has 2.2km!
There are at least 3 cameras systems: Bird has 4!
There is a helicopter above the track taking the video feeds from the cars and relaying them to sydney and then out to the viewers.: Nasa takes the feeds from birds scope and drives the mars landers!!
There are two full time computer gurus monitoring every movement the drivers are making and all the 20,000 parts: Bird is worth 3 computer gurus and has his scope has more moving parts - all monitered!
If i was to choose between
-that monday night watching bird, his equipment & good seeing OR
-listen to the roar of a heap of v8's getting off the line and oggle the 20 odd v8 supercar girls strolling past through "crowny" goggles
I do believe that night at star camp took the cake!!!
Although, great seeing & grid girls & telescopes would be great too!
