Canon EOS300D a Mighty Camera

Hi All,
Well it looks like we will never get a clear night again (know that feeling) so ill post a picture taken in May this year, not long after I purchased the Canon DSLR Camera, showing what the (then) unmodified Canon can do with its own Lens, this is a 10 Min. Exp. at ISO800 no DF removed (you can see the Amp. glow at the right side of the picture) with the Lens at 18 mm FL, manual focus, and was one of the First shots I had ever taken of the Milky-Way, nice wide FOV, think of what one would get with a "fish-eye" lens.

That's a great pic, clear as and heaps of detail, it's the sort of shot i am still dreaming of getting of the milky way.

Is the lens the 18-55mm kit one?

I have tried with my 350d and 18-55, and couldn't get anywhere near that kind of sharpness well done.

I have the 10-22mm lens, and itching to learn how to run the EQ6 and get some long exposures of the milky way wide field.

It would be interesting to see the effect of the fisheye lens at 10 minutes.

A really good fish-eye lens, is the Zenitar 16mm F2.8.The other good thing it is only about $180 Aus.From what I've heard the performance is very good.It is all manual but that does not matter for astro.Just go to Ebay and search with the word Zenitar.Would like to see a similar good result with one of these.

if you ask tornado33 he found some program to remove the amp glow, great shot. PM Scott and ask him what it is he does and reprocess that shot, its fantastic

Isn't it great fun seeing 100x times more then what you can see visualy just with 1 exposure.

Yep lovely pic. Gradient Xterminator is great for removing amp glow even on non dark subtracted images, as well as getting rid of vignetting.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments, well to answer a few questions, The Lens was the one suppled with the Camera, The Camera was mounted on the LX200 and guiding was done with an MX7C/Astroart, I normally remove a DF from exposures-just missed here, ill try one taken around that time-at the same exposure time, O.K. on the Zenitar Lens-yes ive been looking at it on E-Bay, but ill have to wait till the kitty has a bit more in it.

The Camera was mounted on the LX200-10" SCT, guiding was done with the ED80/Astroart.
