Eclipse in 2012

Hey all,

I've managed to finish the groundwork with the family and will be taking everyone up for the 2012 eclipse. Yay!

I'm just a bit unsure as to how to choose the best place to plonk ourselves for it. Is there any mention of some IIS people getting together anywhere?
Any advice on where to go and how to prepare?
Not sure how far out any accomodation places will accept bookings though.

Would appreciate any help/resources that would help!

Cheers,
Chris

I'm taking the family up to cairnes as well. We think we might find a nice beach position as it will be a morning eclipse. Don't know about accom yet.

Suggestions....

I won't be doing any serious planning for some time yet, but I will be there! I suggest being a little flexible in your plans so that you can make a decision about being inland or on the coast perhaps as late as the evening beforehand.

The computers and algorithms behind the weather models have three years to improve before then, and the cloud forecasts are already very useful, especially for short term prognosis.
