Bintel opens new store in Melbourne!

A few people may have heard rumours on the grapevine over the last few weeks, but it's now public knowledge..

Bintel are opening a new store in Melbourne (corner of Burke Road and Clifton Road in Camberwell). Roger Davis (well known to many from the BATSC) and Graham Hardy will be running the store.

I'm sure this is great news for the amateur astronomers living in the Southern part of the country, as they'll have a local store to pick gear up from, and to save on postage from Sydney too!

Congrats to Mike Smith and the Bintel team, and congrats and good luck to Roger Davis and co!

This information was announced in Bintel's November Night Sky newsletter.

So is BATSC becoming part of Bintel or is that still a separate entity, or is it now defunct?

Well, actually it's an amalgamation. We thought that we should do more for you guys and save you postage! It also saves us breath as there is one less word in the name for when we answer the telephone!
PLUS: We expanded range of really nice gear to show everyone as well as still doing our friendly service and chats. For those who can, drop in for a cuppa and a chat or maybe an eyepiece or something.
The new shop will be opening towards the end of November.

sorry but being amalgamated does that mean that heidelburg will stay open or will it be shifting to camberwell and merging with bintel that way?

BATSC is closing its door at Heidelburg for the final time and Reopening as Bintel at Camberwell. It is an amalgamation of knowledge, support, suppliers and products. There will be a more extensive range of products available to the astronomical community from Bintel.

I should also mention that Roger will continue to provide a binoculars repair service as originally provided by <ST1BATSC </ST1at the Heidelberg.

So, that means GS dobs will be available in Victoria!!!! (too late for me, I've got one) so we can point Victorian noobies straight to 'Bintel Camberwell'.

Well done guys!

Good to hear, Roger! Hope it all goes well for you. Now I've got something extra to look forward to when I come over for the NACAA next year.

Hi Jacquie, and everyone else,
Thanks for your good wishes! Our first appearance will be at the ASV Star-be-que on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of December then again at NACAA next year.
The long standing pronunciation of that still haunts me, naysa or nacka, unfortunately now that John Perdrix has passed away we only have the word of Mr Jim Trainor as to the "pronunciation".
See you at some of these events.

I agree with cventer...ummm...Naglers...

I thought that we were a little short of shop fronts here in Melbourne because the membership of astronomy clubs is really high. Numbers just didn't add up.
